Since I've lived in the Akron area (5 years) I've been curious about the Cathedral Buffet. For one, I love buffets. Two, any place called the Cathedral Buffet is worthy of a visit.
Well it took 5 years but I finally made it. There were easily 500 other people there, likely more. I am not kidding. It was a heavily African-American crowd, all decked out in their Sunday best. I suspect other days of the week it is a bit more casual and maybe more evenly racially split, but I don't know. I'll have to go back to know for sure.
Cathedral Buffet has their own website detailing the dining hall and options, and all sorts of other stuff about the place, including tours. Yes folks, I said tours. The place is so interesting that they have an entry on the Roadside America website, too. Sadly I didn't get to experience the Jesus wax museum but I plan to at some point. Ernest Angley is an interesting character for sure. Evangelism at its best.
Perhaps I'll revisit this some day with photos from the museum.
